On vacation...

Hi there!!!

Last night I worked my last double shift in the hospital till Sep, Oh Yeah!!! I'll be on vacation till Sep 1st.

I hope I can relax, enjoy, love, swim, dance, get some suntan, and scrapbook!!!!

But I'll be around...

Blog prompt 18. July 30th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

18 - Who was your personal favourite teeny-bopper pin-up? Share a story about that dreamboat or another happy teenage memory with your readers.

I didn't have such an idol in my teens; I didn't listen to the radio that much nor I saw too much TV. I preferred being playing around, enjoy my stuff,...

I can't remember right now a certain happy teenage memory but I remember I've always done whatever I've wanted... I studied, I went out with friends, I danced till the sunrise, I got into the see dressed, I travelled a little bit, I built my future the way I wanted,... I used to wear colorful and "strange" clothes no matter what people said, I was (I'm still) so sincere and I'm glad my friend like me that way.

I was so independent and so am I nowadays. It's just ME :-)

Blog prompt 17. July 29th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

17 - What’s your favourite reading material? Like the kind of favourite that you would take it to read if you had to cut off the rest of the world for years and years?

I really don't read as much as I should; my boyfriend loves to read and is trying to get me into it.

But if I had to choose, I'd pick mystery books; I like to feel inside the story, I like those books you feel you can't leave them aside.

Blog prompt 16. July 28th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Here I go today!!

16 - Tell your blog readers about someone who has been a creative influence in your life -- a crafty mum, aunt or grandparent, an influential school teacher or a friend who brought out your creative side, perhaps.

Well, I know I've always been kind of creative; as a child, I loved arts and crafts and did a great job at school. As a teenager, I used to wear colorful clothes and was so imaginative with my outfits when going out with friends.

As an adult, I knew scrapbooking was waiting for me since the beginning...

Someone creative in my life?? Let me think...
My dad's mom, who passed away a few years ago, used to do beautiful pieces of crocheted stuff as well as blankets out of squares of different kind of fabrics.
My dad has great hands; he can repair almost everything he finds broken, he has a great imagination when trying to find the way to repair stuff. When I was a child I used to stare at him while he was working in his room, his "laboratory" as he calls it, and I loved that feeling.
I can't think of anybody else right now...

As for my creative side, I don't remember how I discover scrapbooking but when I first went to the USA as an au pair for a year, I knew that it was one of the first things I wanted to explore.
I love to be able to express myself through paper & cardstock, scissors, glue,... paint, chipboard, brads & eyelets, ribbons & buttons...

I believe everyone has a creative side inside and that, if we dicover it and let it flow, we'll feel better...

My mosaic for prompt 7 of Shimelle's My Freedom class.

In that prompt we had to write about our Dream Day asking a few questions Shimelle gave us. Then choose some key words and do a Flickr search.

I love what came out, I didn't expect to find those picks for my words!!

Enjoy!!

Have a great weekend!!!

It's Sat afternoon and I haven't done anything but blogging... not even lunch! I'm hungry!!!

I'm planning on cleaning up some stuff around my apartment, do some laundry and I may spend a few hours in my scraproom... not sure

Have a great weekend!!!!!

Blog prompt 15, part 1. July 25th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Last one!! I'm up to date with Shimelle's My Freedom class blog prompts!!!!!

15 - What was your favourite treat as a child? What is it now? Share the story behind your favourite treats (be they sweets or luxuries) with your readers to see if they share your tastes.

If we're talking about sweets, I really don't like them... when I was a child I used to prefer that kind of dried sausage that you can eat as a snack with some bread (examples here and here) rather than a sweet. I don't like chocolate! Can you believe it!? I just like vanilla ice cream.

As for now, I like vanilla ice cream and another flavor made with milk (don't know the translation in English); it's called "leche merengada" and you eat it with some cinnamon on top.
Still prefer dried sausage, don't like sweets so much.

But the king of my treats is... SCRAPBOOKING STUFF, specially PAPER PUNCHES :-D
And shoes, and handbags,... ;-)

What about you???

Blog prompt 14, part 1. July 24th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Two more and I'll be up to date!!!!

14 - What artistic technique do you love but not use often? What artistic technique intimidates you? Maybe you’ll find an expert in that technique reads your blog and can comment with tips for you!

Well, I love to get messy with paint, glitter glue, etc but I don't use it often since I need to set up a "safe" place and, after that, wash the brushes, the foam stamps,.... and let them dry!! But love it!!!

As for the technique that intimidates me, well, I'd love to be more confident with my handwritting since this part it's so artistic in scrapbooking. Wrtting, doodling,... it's really hard for me to grab a pen and use it!! But I try to do it from time to time :-)

Blog prompt 13, part 1. July 23th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Catching up...

13 - If there was just one thing from your youth that you could pass on to today’s younger generation what would it be? Something as simple as the original Sesame Street theme song or something more complex, like growing up more slowly?

This is a hard one... things have changed a lot around here... I'd pass the "safety" I used to feel when I was a kid; I could stay playing on the street or go by myself somewhere close without feeling I was in danger. Right now I just hear on the news about kidnapping, abuse, etc It sounds awful! :-(

Another thing is I'd love to spend some quality time with my children (when I have them). Nowadays it's so difficult to stay at home with your kids since everything is sooooo expensive, but I'll try!!!

A big hug from Spain :-)

Blog prompt 12, part 1. July 22th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Here I come with another update for Shimelle's My Freedom class...

12 - Write about your first job and ask your blog readers to share their first job stories too.

I don’t remember my age but I know I wasn’t really a teenager. I took a course to be a group leader for kids and I worked in a urban Summer camp (in a school close to where I used to live).

It was amazing! I was in charge of a group of about ten kids of around 8 years old, but the big group was huge and we had so much fun.

We made tons of activities and crafts, and we also went to the swimming pool, to some other great pages around, etc

It only lasted for 15 days but I had tons of fun and it was well paid.

Blog prompt 11, part 1. July 21th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Last one for today!!! I mean, for tonight, it's almost 2 am here!!!!

11 - Tell your blog readers about your favourite game.

I like games of finding objects. My last favorite is Little Shop of Treasures.

I also like memory games.

The truth is that I don't really like playing games but if I have to make a choice, that's it!!
Love that game!!!!

Blog prompt 10. July 18th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

And yet another one!!!

10 - Whatever you are sharing with your blog readers today, set yourself a word count target. Once you’ve written your post, count to see if you are over, under or spot on! You can even challenge them to comment with a set number of words, just for fun.

(100 exact words about my goals for the upcoming Fall)

I’d like to get a fresh new start of the season in Sep. I’d like to be able to stop procrastination and start managing my time better. I now I’ll have time for everything if I really organize myself.

I have to start exercising and eating healthier. I have to start studying for my special nursing exams. I want to spend more time in my scraproom rather than in front of the computer. I need to reactivate my life!!!

I still have a month ahead to really believe I can do it. Because I know I can.

Well, any comment on this?? You have 10 words to do it :-D

P.S. If you want to say more, give me any advice, whatever! You can split up your post, I mean, several 10 word posts :-)

Blog prompt 09. July 17th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Another one!!!

9 - The things that inspire us are often linked to what we label as quirks in our personalities: things we like that others seem to dismiss. What quirk could you share with your blog readers to see if they really dismiss this or if it’s something you have in common?

I’ve just remembered something!! When I go out for dinner and order a “bocadillo” (like a sandwich with French bread), I always open it and “rearrange” what it’s inside. My best friend always stares at me and asks, have you arranged it alphabetically already?

Another one... I just love milk with cookies, I mean LOVE. I soak cookies in groups of four in the milk, eat half of it and plunge the rest in the milk. When thre's no milk left I remove the "stuff" and happily eat it :-D Even at work people has notice it and make fun out of it...

Feel free to express yourself...

P.S. anyone want cookies??

Blog prompt 08. July 16th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Wow, I'm soooo behind with the blog prompts of Shimelle's My Freedom class... so here it comes another one...

We were talking about timelines of things we've already acomplish and things we hope to achieve...

8 - Choose one point on each line to share with your blog readers - one thing you have accomplished and one thing you hope to accomplish. Bonus points if you have a photo from the event on the first line!

The acomplishment that really brings great memories to my mind is when I went to Niagara Falls. I've done other more "important" things in my life but I remember when I was right there, feeling the water in my face... it was just amazing!!!

The thing I hope to acomplish some day is to be a mother. It really scares me but I'd like to have two children and raise them with my soul mate the best way we can. Any advice is welcome!

Today is my mom's birthday...

I haven't had lunch with her because yerterday I worked double shift and was sleeping till the late afternoon, but I'm going to have dinner with her, my dad and my brother tonight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

Blog prompt 07. July 15th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Another one...

7 - Share a list of links with your blog readers, leading them to the websites that inspire you most.

Well, all the websites that inspire me are listed on the left of this blog. I visit almost all of them almost everyday to look for updates :-)

I specially like Flickr, Shimelle's, Paperclipping, Ali Edwards', and Two Peas in a Bucket.

Enjoy surfing!!!

Blog prompt 06, part 2. July 14th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Well, I'm behind in the blog prompts of Shimelle's class, so I'm posting another one...

6 - [Share an old photo of yourself] and a current photo of yourself with your blog readers. Tell them a little something that has changed and a little that has stayed the same.

I’ve just found this pic in my folders. Although it’s from January, I look just the same. I promise I’ll post a recent one as soon as I have it.

As for the second part of the second part :-D [Tell them a little something that has changed and a little that has stayed the same.],
a huge something has change but I'd mention as a little that I'm not as free as I used to be, but I love that since I'm right where I've wanted to be.
As for what the little that has stayed the same: my smile :-)

A big smile for you!!!!!

Happy Bithday to my sister!

Yes!! Today my little sis turns 25 {heart}

I still remember when I was seven... I was talking a walk with my grandpa while my mom was at the hospital... we where right in front of the street when my grandma started shouting on the balcony: it's a girl, it's a girl!!! I felt so happy for having a baby sister {heart}

I used to sang lullabies to get her to sleep on her cradle... I guess that's why she hates my singing :D but, since she always fell asleep, I think I wasn't that bad... who knows?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMEN!!!

Tuesday, July 15, 2008

I can't believe it, I can see my scrapping desk!!!

Yes!!!

It's the first time I can see my new scrapping desk since I bought it a few months ago. It's empty!!!

That means I'm almost done with the re-organizing :-) I'll post some pics as soon as I'm done.

I hope I finish it tomorrow morning and re-start making stuff.

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monday, July 14, 2008

Blog prompt 06, part 1. July 14th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

6 -
Share an old photo of yourself [and a current photo of yourself with your blog readers. Tell them a little something that has changed and a little that has stayed the same].

Well, as you can see, these are old photos of myself, two "mini me" pics.

I don't remember anything about the first one but I have some more pics from that day with one of my great-grandma and with my mom's younger brother; I guess it was a family day :-)

As for the second one, oh gosh!! I do remember that day!!!
We were at a beautiful place in the Mother Nature with some of my mom's family, a couple and their 4 or 5 children, and we had sooooo much fun!!

There was like a Native American place with wood tents where we could go in and out, climb, etc

I like this pic a lot and so does my sister, she always says I look like Peter Pan!!

Well, this post is dedicated to her for two reasons: 1 - next Wed she'll turn 25, 2 - she's getting married next July 11th, 2009, Congrats!!!

I'll be posting later on the week the second part of this post, the part with the pic of myself now and the comments about changes. Since it's my sis b-day I guess I'll have better oportunities to be in front of the camera than now that I'm still on night-night clothes.

Take care!!

Blog prompt 05. July 11th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

The last one to be updated :-)

5 -How do you prefer the pace of life? Do you wish things would speed up or slow down? Illustrate with something that has been on your mind or on your calendar or share your preference between working slowly or quickly on a crafting project.

I've always had the feeling that my life goes just as it has to do it. Its pace is just adapted to every single moment I'm enjoying. Yes, I try to enjoy everything, learn from the positive and the negatives aspects, live to the fullest...

My only regret: procrastination. I didn't know this word in English till a few months ago, but I really know it now.

I feel I'm wasting too much time, specially in the computer. But, on the other hand, it's my choice...

I read once somewhere "The time you enjoy wasting it's not wasted time. Bertrand Russell". I've been having some family issues lately, feeling so tired from work, missing my boyfriend (he lives kind of far way),... so I just do whatever I want, although I know I "should" be doing something different... but, says who?? ;-)

The only thing I really miss doing is scrapbooking more but I'm on it. My scraproom is almost done and I'll be spending more time in it in the upcoming days...

what leads me to the second part of this post. I prefer to work slowly on my projects, think about the design, what I want to use on it,... enjoy the whole process as much as I can... not stress, just enjoy!!!!

Well, I'll leave this posting stuff for today since, I'm up to date!!! New prompts tomorrow for Shimelle's class My Freedom!!!

Take care!!!

Blog prompt 04. July 10th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Another beautiful one!!

4 - Have you ever been inspired by the words of a poem? Share the poem with your blog readers and tell them how you came to value its words.

Well, it’s not a poem but a song, and it’s “our song”, both my boyfriend and I love this song and it’s an inspiration for our love.

It's the song by Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, from the movie Robin Hood.

I’ve thought this is the best inspiration I can share, enjoy!! (click on the title to watch the video on YouTube)

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more

Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice

Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you

Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Blog prompt 03. July 09th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Continuing with the attempt to catch up with Shimelle's class blog prompts.

3 - Play a game of ‘What’s in your suitcase?’ on your blog by listing your necessities for travel, then ask your blog readers to comment with their own list. You can include pictures or links for items you consider must-haves...

I used to be so stressed about forgetting something when I had to travel; as the years went by I realized that, as long as you have your tickets and your money/credit card with you, you aren’t forgetting anything!!!

When it’s time to travel I like to make a list in advance as “things to take” come to my mind, but I’m not stressed anymore if I forget anything.

First of all, IDs, money, credit/debit cards, cell phone + battery charger, camera, Olympus x-750, + battery charger, sunglasses, …

Then I go for the toiletries such as my oily-gel (my skin is so delicate), champoo, hair mascara, bodymilk, creams for my face, other feminine necessities, …

Last but not least, specific items depending on where I’m going, that is, for example, swimming stuff if I’m going to the beach, etc; don’t forget something fancy for enjoying nights out!

So, what about you? Is there something you can't travel without?

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Blog prompt 02. July 08th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

Well, here I come with the second attempt to catch up with Shimelle's class blog prompts.

2 - If you could travel in time for just one day, where would you go and what would you do? You can always search in Flickr to find a picture to help illustrate your post. Flickr members encourage this with the ‘Blog this!’ link you’ll see above some photos.

If we're talking about "travel in time" I must talk about the Victorian Era; I've always liked the looks of the women... her dresses, her shoes,...

These are a few images I've found in Flickr. Here you can see some more pics of Victorian-Edwardian women.

Of course I love how women are now and our clothes!!!

Well, once more, thanks for reading!!!

P.S. Last pic from Flickr too: Playmobil victorian Ladies (offernandinhoon!)

Blog prompt 01. July 07th, 2008. My Freedom, Shimelle's class.

This is the first attempt to catch up with Shimelle's class blog prompts.

1 - We’ll start easy. Post a picture you take from your clock adventure as you look for all the time pieces in your house. Tell your blog readers about this project and you hope to make time for it.

Well, this is my picture: my favourite clock in the house. It's a kitchen clock, I love cows!!!

This is the the first blog prompt of Shimelle's Summer class: My Freedom

I've signed up for this class after taking two of her other classes, Journal Your Christmas 07 and There's No Place Like Home. I just love them!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make too much stuff but I'll try to follow the prompts, take pics, blog and do the thinking, that's a lot!!

I'm feeling kind of blue lately and that takes me to procrastination; this makes me feel "bluer" and the circle goes on and on... I hope I can cut this up soon :-)

Well, it's soooo late for me, morning shift tomorrow!!!

Thanks for reading.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

I'm here!!!

Well, this is my very first post in my scrapping blog so I think I’ll start explaining why I’m starting blogging now, neither before nor after…

I’ve been thinking about scrap-blogging for a long time but I wasn’t sure about where to start; then she came along…

I’ve already taken two of the Shimelle’s great classes, so I signed up for her new Summer class, My Freedom. One of the parts of the daily prompts is the “blog prompt” (it’s a new addition to her classes) and, since it’s so difficult to me to keep up with the crafty part, I’ve decided that it’s time to blog, now!

So, since the class started last Mon, July 7th, I’ll try to catch up with that first and then I’ll just blog whenever I can.

Thanks for reading and “see” you around.

A big hug from Spain.
